About The Position

This role is focused exclusively on the Power Shop. As a Power Shop Associate, you’ll support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of power equipment and small-engine tools, ensuring customer and store equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for use. While this position includes some customer interaction, the primary responsibility is hands-on mechanical work in the shop rather than rental counter operations.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform hands-on repair and maintenance work
  • Experience with small engines, power equipment, or similar mechanical systems preferred
  • Ability to read work orders, follow instructions, and use basic computer systems (e.g., BisTrack, vendor portals)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment using proper lifting techniques
  • Clear communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • Commitment to following company values, safety standards, and operational objectives
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to reach overhead, sit, climb, balance, lift, twist, bend, stoop, and squat
  • Regular ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required for equipment handling and repairs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with small engines, power equipment, or similar mechanical systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sharpen, repair, and rebuild chainsaw chains, mower blades, blower components, and similar small-engine equipment
  • Perform basic diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on customer-owned and store-owned power equipment
  • Inspect equipment for safety, function, and readiness before return to customers or floor placement
  • Assemble and prep new power equipment for sale or use
  • Order parts and supplies as needed; maintain accurate parts and service inventory
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe power shop and work area
  • Follow all safety procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and internal standards
  • Properly document service work and repairs completed
  • Participate in company-sponsored technical training as required
  • Assist customers with basic questions related to equipment use, maintenance, and repairs
  • Provide clear guidance on safe operation and care of power equipment
  • Interact professionally with customers in person and over the phone as it relates to power equipment service
  • Support a positive, team-oriented work environment
  • Communicate effectively with store leadership and sales staff regarding equipment status and repairs
