About the position

The Power Plant Systems Operator at InstantServe LLC is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of power generation equipment in a coal-fired power plant environment. This role involves conducting routine checks, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The operator will work in a rotating shift schedule, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine operational checks and readings on plant equipment.
  • Adjust, regulate, and maintain oil levels, water levels, temperatures, and flows at required specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment as scheduled.
  • Conduct basic mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, inspecting and troubleshooting as assigned.
  • Perform chemical analysis and chemical control on steam, cooling, and condensate systems; maintain chemistry logs.
  • Handle and transfer bulk chemicals properly.
  • Handle inert and explosive gases (e.g. H2, N2, O2, CO2, and acetylene) properly.
  • Inspect the plant site for security, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Assist with maintenance during plant outages.
  • Maintain shift operating logs and records.
  • Complete all required safety and occupational training.
  • Perform housekeeping activities necessary to operate safely and maintain facility cleanliness and appearance.

Requirements

  • 1 - 3 years in a power generation or similar environment preferred.
  • Experience in a coal-fired power plant is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of power plant processes.
  • Above average technical aptitude (understanding of basic chemistry, electricity, and mathematical principles).
  • Skilled in performing inspection of outside plant equipment and facilities, performing chemical tests, reading gauges and meters, and troubleshooting power plant equipment and systems.
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to communicate with co-workers and supervisors effectively.
  • Ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.
  • Work safely and bring safety hazards to the attention of management.
  • Demonstrates support for organizational changes and improvements.

Benefits

  • Contract position with pay up to $30.00 per hour.
