About The Position

The Power Plant Repair Mechanic is a member of the maintenance team responsible for performing repairs on power plant equipment. Essential Responsibilities: Maintenance repairs on power plant equipment Power Plant mechanical work includes turbines, boilers, condensers, generators, heat exchangers and power plant related equipment. Work includes assemble, disassemble, repair and adjust all types of auxiliary equipment. Additional work includes dismantle and reassemble boilers and steam turbine generators during inspection. Maintain a safe work environment by observing and following all safety standards and procedures; complying with OSHA and General Electric standards. Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED).
  • 2 years of general mechanical, machine repair, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Requires knowledge of the operations of mechanical equipment and machinery utilized in a power plant or heating facility.
  • Must be able to establish, maintain, and understand mechanical problems and repair procedures.
  • Must be able to use mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work from drawings and schematic diagrams, read and interpret complex technical manuals, materials, blue prints as well as use shop math.
  • Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 30 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodations)
  • Ability to work in confined areas, work off ladders, platforms and heights

Nice To Haves

  • Massachusetts Power Plant License or prior work experience in a power plant.
  • Five years of experience in mechanical diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Experience working in an industrial and manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with industrial and Massachusetts regulations.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of safety rules in an industrial setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Possess strong mechanical abilities.
  • Solid understanding of computers & technology, with the willingness to use application software and troubleshoot problems.
