About The Position

The Power Plant Portfolio and Asset Manager plays a crucial role in the commercial management of power plant and battery storage assets owned and operated by Sterling St James LLC in Los Angeles, CA. This position is designed to support the financial and operational aspects of the company's energy assets, ensuring compliance with various regulations and optimizing asset performance. The manager will work closely with colleagues from Portfolio & Asset Management, Accounting, and Finance, under the guidance of the Director of Portfolio & Asset Management. The role requires a blend of financial acumen, project management skills, and a solid understanding of the energy sector, particularly in power generation and asset management. In this position, the manager will be responsible for preparing and reconciling monthly invoices to various counterparties, which is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely payments. Additionally, the manager will assist in the preparation of annual budgets, proforma financial statements, presentations, and monthly asset manager reports, which are critical for internal and external stakeholders. The role also involves supporting the oversight and compliance of all project permits and licenses, as well as assisting the Legal team in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) registration of management changes. The manager will update and monitor existing and new Resource Adequacy agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, Gas Purchase agreements, Insurance, and Energy Management Agreements, ensuring that all contracts are managed effectively. Furthermore, the role includes assisting in controlling the project's finance and credit agreements, including managing letters of credit, collateral, and parent guarantees. The manager will also provide support for plant operational issues, such as forced outages and unplanned expenses, while analyzing their financial impacts. Finally, the manager will review merchant power plant asset data and update monthly earnings projections, supporting merchant risk discussions with project partners.
