About The Position

The Power Plant Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Power Plant Operations Group and all associated utility systems. This role ensures the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the facility while maintaining strict regulatory compliance and system reliability. The Supervisor manages energy inputs, coordinates personnel training, and provides strategic recommendations for maintenance and equipment optimization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of college, trade, or vocational school.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in power plant operations, instrumentation, controls, and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of the theory and operation of chillers, boilers, steam turbines, electric generators, pumps, air compressors, and water treatment systems.
  • Google Cloud Services and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Assetworks (AiM) and associated mobile applications.
  • Shift Connector (for logging and documenting equipment performance).
  • General proficiency with utility operating software systems and computer-based control systems.
  • Proven leadership abilities, effective team management skills, working knowledge of environmental regulations, and the ability to direct others to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Certificate or obtain it within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the plant
  • Manage and schedule energy inputs (fuel and electricity) to meet utility demands
  • Provide recommendations for maintenance schedules to maximize efficiency
  • Supervise and assist personnel in the operation, minor repair, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
  • Manage and schedule a dynamic 24/7 workforce.
  • Oversee, monitor, and audit safety programs, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols, and emergency response plans.
  • Assist Engineering, Controls, and Maintenance teams in repairing or replacing equipment.
  • Support the Power Plant Manager in tracking production costs, reliability, and uptime.
  • Remain available to respond to emergency situations regardless of the time of day and maintain composure to make critical decisions under pressure.
