The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe operation of all power plant systems and equipment. This role involves planning, budgeting, scheduling, and supervising all operating activities and operations staff at the plant. The Operations Manager ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory environmental and safety programs. Working closely with plant staff, the Operations Manager aims to develop and maintain a high-quality work environment to achieve plant safety, production, revenue, and cost targets. Key responsibilities include administering plant policies, procedures, and practices to support expected performance, ensuring operations staff compliance with Administrative and Safety Instructions, and determining work plans and resources necessary to achieve operational targets. The Operations Manager prepares operations budget estimates and participates in the plant budget preparation process while controlling operational expenses to achieve approved budgets. Coordination of daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and yearly production schedules with contracted power companies is also a critical aspect of this role. The Operations Manager plans, schedules, directs, and supervises daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal operating work assignments of employees, which include ash removal, fuel delivery, water supply, steam generation, electric generation, and pollution control systems and equipment. Additionally, the Operations Manager identifies, troubleshoots, and communicates breakdown or upset conditions of plant systems and equipment to Maintenance, coordinating systems and equipment access for Maintenance. Training materials for Operations staff are developed and delivered by the Operations Manager, who also maintains plant systems, equipment, and grounds cleanliness while promoting a culture of safety awareness and adherence to all company safety policies. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying safety hazards and taking corrective actions as necessary. The Operations Manager assists with conducting safety meetings and training programs and participates in plant safety programs as required. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
