About The Position

Under the general supervision to perform such duties as assigned in operation and maintenance of power plant and related power plant equipment. Essential Duties Perform all duties peculiar to, and normally required in, the trade of power plant mechanic, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work. Operates, fires and maintains boilers to meet the need for steam. Plans firing for energy efficient operations. The ability to read blue prints and sketches. Maintains automatic temperature controls. Reads gauges, meters and through the use of automatic equipment will maintain utility usage and equipment work logs. Maintain and operate HVAC equipment. To do cleaning and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment. To test water of mechanical equipment and to add and adjust chemicals as needed. To layout jobs in accordance with blue prints or sketches and to order, through supervision, parts and equipment necessary. To make rounds of campus buildings, inspection equipment and taking readings and making adjustments to maintain proper environmental conditions. To notify supervision of known malfunctions that would cause a failure of utility service. Performs all classification related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Ability to think and act quickly in an emergency.
  • Two years experience or training in maintenance and operation of power plant equipment.
  • Some experience must have been in a plant of comparable size.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school graduate preferred.
  • Philadelphia Class B Stationary Engineer’s License
