About The Position

The Power Plant Manager will oversee the operations of two power plants, ensuring efficient management and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role requires strong leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement in operational productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering discipline, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in hydro-electric, steam, and/or electric power plant operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years' management experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on process optimization.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours, if and when required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the efficient operation of electrical generating assets and associated marketing activities.
  • Provide leadership, coordination, direction, and oversight of management/supervisory personnel assigned to power generation facilities.
  • Review, analyze, plan, coordinate, and lead all activities within the Operations Department.
  • Ensure plant availability and execution of operating and maintenance schedules.
  • Plan and implement strategies and action plans to support strategic imperatives and promote cost-effective operations.
  • Improve manpower utilization within existing facilities and processes.
  • Establish goals for continual improvement in operational productivity and quality.
  • Facilitate operational and process engineering changes to improve site profitability.
  • Provide oversight to foster an environment that encourages employee involvement.
  • Guide teams to meet safety, quality, and financial targets.
  • Coordinate fulfillment of obligations to contract counterparties and energy markets.
  • Optimize gas and electricity marketing processes to benefit business goals.
  • Oversee environmental control programs to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist in developing and executing company annual business plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, practices, and policies.
  • Administer computerized databases, file systems, and reporting systems for plant-related data.
  • Maintain equipment and machinery for optimal performance through inspections and mechanical knowledge.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the plant and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff to foster a high-performance work environment.
