About The Position

The Electrician Apprentice 1st Year position at Xcel Energy offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in the energy sector. This role involves hands-on training and classroom instruction, focusing on the maintenance and repair of high and low voltage equipment, as well as HVAC systems at the Jones Station Power Plant. The apprentice will work under supervision and must complete a 4-year apprenticeship program to qualify as an Electrician Journeyman.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must successfully pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Maintenance Positions Selection Systems (MASS) test.
• Must respond to overtime and call outs.
• Commit to working safely and adhere to company safety rules.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be respirator qualified (Pulmonary Function Test).
• Must take Base line Audiogram.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of one-year electrical experience desired.
• Two years college level electronics, electrical, refrigeration certification or equivalent preferred.
• Successfully pass the Xcel Energy screening requirements, including a drug test and security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, construct, and maintain high and low voltage equipment.
• Perform maintenance and repair of plant HVAC systems.
• Participate in hands-on training and required classroom training.
• Complete a 4-year apprentice program and qualify for Electrician Journeyman.
• Adhere to safety rules and regulations while working.
