About The Position

The City and County of Honolulu is seeking a passionate individual to join the Department of Parks and Recreation as a Power Mower Operator-Grounds Keeper. This role involves operating powerful equipment and maintaining beautiful landscapes, contributing to the stunning environment of the area. The position requires an energetic and motivated individual who enjoys working outdoors and is committed to maintaining the grounds and landscaped areas in District II, which spans from Middle St. to Aiea High School.

Requirements

• Some experience and/or training in the repair or operation of passenger-type power mowers or similar motorized equipment
• Possession of a valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment

Responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining passenger type power mowers
• Caring for and maintaining grounds and landscaped areas in District II
• Operating and performing driver required maintenance on vehicles up to and including ¾ ton pick up to transport refuse, supplies, equipment and personnel to various locations
• Making minor repairs such as replacing sprinkler heads and performing minor building maintenance like adjusting plumbing fixtures
• Performing touch-up painting, which may include removing and painting over graffiti
• Making daily inspections of grounds, facilities and equipment for hazardous conditions, acts of vandalism, graffiti, break-ins and theft
• Inspecting trees and shrubbery for necessary maintenance
• Informing park users of rules and regulations pertaining to the use of Department of Parks and Recreation facilities along with verifying permits
