About The Position

The position is responsible for repairs and required preventive maintenance of diesel engines, trucks, and/or forklifts. The employee will inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform maintenance on equipment. Safety inspections of equipment must be performed, and safety documents required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company policies, and any other Federal, State, or Local regulations must be prepared. The employee will interpret work orders and technical manuals, repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, and test repaired equipment for proper performance to ensure compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations. Regular attendance is required, and the job may involve performing additional duties as assigned based on operational, safety, and other needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED) or equivalent education.
  • Must be 17+ years of age.
  • Minimum of one-year experience and/or completion of trade school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use hand tools and test equipment.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Knowledge of general repairs and PM criteria.
  • Specific knowledge of heavy truck repairs in a commercial environment, including diesel engine system diagnostics.
  • Ability to keep up with changing technology and updates.
  • Possess mechanical ability and interest in engines, electronics, and precision equipment.
  • Strength and stamina to work with heavy equipment and in awkward positions.
  • Valid CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads.
  • Registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse if a CDL holder.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Self-starting and organized with a strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work any shift, including nights and weekends, in any weather condition.
  • Ability to lift approximately 70 lbs. or more as required by job functions.
  • Compliance with all company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to interact well with others and work independently or in a team setting.
  • Capability to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comply with written information and documents with high comprehension and concentration level.

  • Experience with heavy equipment maintenance in a commercial setting.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
