About The Position

Work in this class involves the construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage underground and overhead primary and secondary electric distribution lines. Install and maintain New River Light and Power’s fiber-optic network.

Requirements

• Completion of high school and six months of electrical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Maintains required certifications.
• AS A MINIMUM Completion of high school and 4-year minimum of recent high voltage electrical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have knowledge of electric power distribution lines, National Electric Safety Code, electrical theory, system service rules and regulations and pertinent policies and practices.
• Ability to safely work on energized and de‑energized lines.
• Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb poles, work at heights, and perform strenuous physical tasks in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate.
• Credentials from an Electrical Utility Lineman School Program and 4 years of electrical Lineworker related work experience or 5 years of electrical Lineworker related work experience.
• Lives within 20 minutes of Boone, NC.
• Holds DoL Journeyman credentials.
• Holds CDL Class B license.
