As a Power HVAC Mechanic (Service Tech IV) within the Power/HVAC division at United Rentals, you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on all equipment that may include air conditioners, air cooled chillers, diesel engines, dehumidifiers, and electrical distribution equipment. You will use a high degree of independent judgment and complete maintenance/repairs tasks in a safe and professional manner. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
  • Ability to trouble shoot and “field repair” a broad range of equipment including air conditioners; 10 to 50 tons, air cooled chillers, diesel engines; 35 to 2200 hp, pump ends; centrifugal, hydraulic and electric, desiccant dehumidifiers; 500 to 1,500 cfm and electrical distribution equipment
  • Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
  • Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment
  • Must own tools applicable to position
  • Ability to lead others
  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
  • This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, gas, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
  • Diagnose and repair all equipment in the rental fleet without supervision utilizing schematics and diagnostic programs
  • When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
  • Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
  • Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
  • Other duties assigned as needed
