As a Power Equipment Operator, you are a crucial part of the behind-the-scenes team, ensuring merchandise moves safely and efficiently so customers receive their items promptly. This role involves operating various powered industrial trucks and equipment in furniture, bedding, and fulfillment warehouses. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled for 30 or more hours per week, with hours dependent on business needs and colleague availability. Requirements

  • Be a flexible team player who will thrive in a fast-paced environment and can switch between multiple tasks.
  • Be comfortable with heights while on power equipment raising self, equipment, and merchandise up to 40ft in the air.
  • Have flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Be proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology.
  • Be open to being cross trained in other areas of the facility, depending on business needs.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Must be able to read and understand employment policies and safety rules/procedures in English.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75lbs.
  • Ability to endure prolonged periods (up to 12 hours) of standing/walking around the facility or department (excluding breaks).
  • Ability to perform lifting, constant and repetitive movement, standing, reaching with arms and hands above eye level, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • Possess close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to use, hear and see safety/emergency alarms and Power Industrial Truck (PIT) warning devices to ensure safety while on the warehouse floor.
  • Willingness to undergo random drug testing on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, completed on the same workday as notification or within 24 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operate different industrial trucks, including stock pickers and reach trucks at heights up to 40 feet, safely and efficiently.
  • Navigate narrow aisles using power equipment to pick, pull, put away, stack, and count merchandise to meet standards.
  • Input data accurately and efficiently using PCs, handheld computers, radio frequency equipment, or similar devices, mastering area-specific functions across various systems (including warehouse systems and proprietary systems).
  • Safely work in narrow aisles and up to 40 feet high with a harness while moving equipment.
  • Report on equipment failures, damage, accidents, and environmental issues affecting safety to the committee promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve goals and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Understand and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and People Leaders.
  • Read and understand employment policies and safety rules/procedures in English.
  • Start your shift strong by wearing your name badge, following dress code, attending start-ups, knowing who’s supporting you, checking that your work area is ready, and staying informed on daily goals.
  • Prioritize the Customer by getting to your department quickly, working with speed and accuracy, handling merchandise with care, and packing each customer’s package thoughtfully and neatly.
  • Greet coworkers with a genuine smile and a warm “hello” to create connection from the moment you see each other.
  • Take time to start conversations, show interest, and build trust.
  • Offer a helping hand to new teammates getting settled and support existing colleagues whenever you can.
