About The Position

The Power Engineer serves as a member of a team responsible for the design, installation, operation, and lifecycle maintenance of advanced countermeasures systems, primarily at overseas diplomatic facilities. The engineer builds and configures countermeasures to ensure proper functionality and operation and manages hardware and software configuration changes to ensure interoperability of highly technical equipment. Responsibilities include providing technical support for all phases of countermeasures systems, pre-installation, installation, and post-installation, and coordinating all reporting, including pre- and post-trip technical reports and summaries.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten years of work experience in power, electrical engineering, or physics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Understanding of Internet of Things (IoT), operational technology (OT), security systems, and current industry trends.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, demonstrating a positive attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task efficiently, and work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical and electromechanical schematics, including building systems drawings.
  • Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (SSBI less than 4.5 years old).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, C++, or other programming languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the evaluation and development of new countermeasure systems and test equipment, documents capabilities, identifies potential limitations, and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Supports the training of Department of State personnel in the maintenance, installation, and operation of specific countermeasures, and can conduct independent research on emerging technologies, as well as laboratory or field testing with minimal oversight.
  • Assists in the drafting and review of technical security policies and operational guidelines, facilitating their integration into Department of State facilities, gathering information on new technologies, and participating in project design and review meetings.
  • Writes detailed reports, assists with the generation of user manuals and other documentation, and drafts surveys for new installations.
  • Coordinates travel and site support, assisting with equipment upgrades, repairs, and replacements, and providing user training on multiple systems.
  • Able to read, interpret, and create electrical and electromechanical schematics.
  • Responsible for working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition, to support technical and operational requirements.
