About The Position

In this position, you will work collaboratively with Ford internal and external teams including Software/Controls, D&R, Validation, and power electronics suppliers to design and develop components that meet corporate requirements, specifications, and customer needs. This includes electrical circuit design, selecting the appropriate isolated magnetics transformer design and power semiconductor technology, managing device packaging and thermal management, and designing EMC filters. The selected candidate will be part of a team that will drive future product development and develop industry-first features and components in the growing field of vehicle electrification. The Electrified Propulsion Engineering Power Electronics Electromagnetic Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design, development, and validation of non-motive power conversion components (DC/DC converter, AC onboard charger module, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the specification, design, development, and validation of on-board power conversion modules.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert of vehicle-installed power converters and provide technical guidance to D&R, test, and systems engineers on the team.
  • Develop and ensure robust interface with vehicle and accessory modules.
  • Lead design reviews and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Develop and work with supplier and Ford approved test labs to execute EMC test plans.
  • Develop a solution that meets regional standards and code compliance including IEC, GBT, UL and CE standards from IEEE, and others.
  • Ensure designs meet functional safety standards.
  • Provide HW support to resolve user concerns, investigate and troubleshoot system faults and errors.
  • Connect with focus groups and forums to stay at the forefront of technological advancements to keep the team abreast of the latest technological solutions.
