About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. Archer is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join Archer. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience within the Power Electronics Assembly (PEA) Manufacturing team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree for Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field at an accredited university, preferably going into the 3rd or 4th year
  • Familiarization with CAD (Archer uses Siemens NX) & GD&T
  • Some design experience, along with knowledge of prototype manufacturing methods such as 3D printing and basic machining
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Be adaptable, a quick learner, & have a problem-solving attitude
  • Strong organizational skills, technical writing abilities, project management, & project documentation skills
  • Able to commit to a 10-week internship

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Minitab

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manufacturing team in bringing up production equipment & processes for Power Electronics Assemblies in the Powertrain Pilot Manufacturing Lines
  • Sub-Assemblies relevant to the Battery Pack, Electric Engine, & Thrust Unit
  • Own projects associated with a manufacturing process to:
  • Improve efficiency, performance, and/or quality
  • Set up & validate production tools & equipment
  • Assist in process development through data analysis, equipment development/fixture design, and specification development for purchased equipment/tools
  • Engage actively in problem-solving efforts, offering innovative solutions and troubleshooting issues as they come up
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, operations, quality, design, and other engineering teams
