About The Position

The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. Requirements

• US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
• A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering or related focus is preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of proven experience working experience in power electronics engineering is required.
• Advanced knowledge of electric drives and electrical circuits (Altium Preferred).
• Familiarity with various networking protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, Controller Area Network (CAN), Bluetooth.
• Experience with integration of military systems/standards is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work well within a team.
• Must be able to speak/read/write English.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Design high-power motor controllers, power regulators, high efficiency AC-DC power converters, DC-DC converters, synchronous rectifiers and battery management solutions.
• Design hardware for motor control systems utilizing embedded processors, DSPs, memory devices, OPAMPs, A/D and D/A converters, as well as other peripheral devices such as RS232, RS485, CAN bus, ModBus, USB interfaces, Ethernet and I2C interfaces as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
• Support new product introduction to manufacturing and through product lifecycle.
• Design PCBs for motor control hardware utilizing techniques to prevent EMC and EMI.
• Designing and selecting hardware for high temperature environments.
• Capture designs utilizing DxDesigner, Allegro for design and schematic capture.
• Design PCB layout, to control of heat and transients.
• Robust testing / validation / documentation methodology for design verification.
• Supervise and support junior engineers.
