About The Position

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Power CAD Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in designing and analyzing power systems for various defense and government projects. You'll work with advanced CAD software to create detailed schematics and layouts, ensuring our systems are robust, efficient, and meet stringent performance and safety standards. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.
  • 4 years of additional equivalent experience can be substituted for a BA/BS.
  • Candidate must be a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or graduating college senior who is in good academic standing and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required prior to starting employment.
  • Candidate must have complete knowledge with all tools of the trade (CAD program, rulers, compass, divider, calculator etc.) and complete knowledge of drafting and design standards.
  • Candidate must have computer literacy, including use of word-processing, spreadsheet, database software.
  • Candidate must have the ability to assist in customization of CAD Software.
  • Candidate must have intimate knowledge of Designing and Drafting Software.
  • Candidate must have great oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must have great attention to detail.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge of Model Space/Paper Space techniques.
  • Complete understanding of Weight Group assignments for Ships Systems and manual for BSCI/ESWBS grouping.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with design originators preparing drawings of unusual, complex or original design.
  • Prepares drawings, which require a high degree of precision.
  • Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.
  • Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation and operation are resolved by the drawing produced.
  • Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent.
  • Provides advice, guidance, and instruction to drafters.
  • May serve as primary point of contact for complex drafting projects.
  • Ability to prepare a complete drawing package without supervision.
  • Calculates Weight and Moments changes as a result of drawing.
  • Calculates electrical loads or heat loads for specific drawing and provide proper breakers, cable type/size or heat exchanger for requirements.
  • Selects proper material for structural members.
  • Assists Electrical/Mechanical engineers for stress/electrical/mechanical calculations.
  • Revises drawings to reflect As-Installed Conditions.
  • Ability to utilize World Wide Web for research.
  • Ability to research existing conditions and where to find that information.
