Power BI Product Owner

About The Position

The position serves as a subject matter technical expert and product owner of datasets and dashboards created with Power BI. The position will enable the most streamlined dashboards using analytic tools and serve as the work unit’s primary technical resource for creating and enhancing the unit’s Power BI dashboards. The position will be HSBIA’s primary point of contact with IT Data Architects and Database Administrators to address upstream data architecture needs in order to enable automated dashboards that are useful and performant. The position promotes and explains data products to non-technical audiences and collaborates with other agencies to a greater extent than others in the work unit.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in data-related tasks and performing advanced-level computations on the data sets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, SAP Business Objects and/or other analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical skills including data analysis, modeling, data mining and the ability to translate complex data into usable dashboards.
  • Proven ability to transform business rules and data into dashboards.
  • Basic understanding of relational database structures, business intelligence reporting schemas (fact and dimension tables), and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business consultation, process improvement, or requirement gathering in an information technology environment.
  • Associate degree in business administration, computer science or any related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of related experience in an information technology environment.
  • High School or GED and five years of related experience in an information technology environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
