About The Position

Forward Air is seeking a Power BI Developer who will take a leadership role in developing and managing complex data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and accuracy. This role is crucial in advancing our business intelligence capabilities and enabling key stakeholders to make informed decisions based on reliable data insights.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI development, data visualization, and business intelligence, with proven success in delivering advanced analytical solutions in a complex environment, preferably in a transportation or logistics environment
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
• Master's degree preferred
• High level of proficiency with Power BI, including Power BI Desktop, Power Query, and Power BI Service
• Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
• Strong command of data visualization, modeling, and transformation techniques, with the ability to work with large datasets efficiently
• Knowledge of Python, R, or other data analysis tools is a plus
• Proven ability to lead BI projects from design through delivery including requirements gathering

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex Power BI reports and dashboards, incorporating rate calculations and performance optimization techniques
• Collaborate closely with internal data engineers and architects to integrate, transform, and optimize data from multiple sources, ensuring high accuracy, security, and performance
• Develop and optimize data models that drive efficient, scalable reporting and analysis, including handling large and complex datasets across the organization
• Work with Business stakeholders, including department heads and executive leadership, to gather requirements, deliver insights, and propose BI solutions that align with strategic business objectives
• Continuously monitor and refine reports and dashboards to improve speed and user experience, identifying and resolving bottlenecks
• Establish and maintain clear documentation for BI processes, data models, and reporting standards, driving adherence to best practices and compliance with industry regulations
• Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and techniques in data visualization and analytics, proposing and implementing enhancements to the organization's BI capabilities
• Other duties as assigned
