About The Position

Diamond Infrastructure Solutions has an exciting job opportunity as a Power 8 Process Technician located in Oyster Creek (TX). Power 8 is a world scale, 425-megawatt plant utilizing a highly automated control system to interface with the GE, Mark IVe and other control systems. The facility is a highly integrated facility – providing power and steam to the entire Oyster Creek site in support of the hydrocarbon’s envelope. The successful candidate will be leader among peers as in influential leader on their shift. Power 8 is an empowered team, and all team members are expected to perform any task that is needed to support the plant and team goals. The primary purpose of this job is the safe and reliable operation of a major power production facility. This facility is manned around the clock with minimal supervision. The team members have to be focused, flexible and empowered to assure that the plant is operated at optimum conditions. Working as an active team member of the Power 8 empowered team, the successful candidate will provide the knowledge and skills required to control and monitor plant operations in a safe and optimal manner.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED/equivalent AND ONE of the following is also required:
  • An associate’s degree or higher
  • 3 or more years of military experience
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour rotating schedule. This will include night and weekend shifts.
  • Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Must be able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, respirators, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Must be willing and able to work in such environments with frequent standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work in such environments working in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 285lbs.
  • Communication: Verbal and written communication for shift handovers, troubleshooting updates, and training new technicians to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Process Safety: A disciplined approach to identifying, assessing, and controlling risks associated with operating a large-scale power and steam facility.
  • Time Management: Balancing routine checks, troubleshooting, training, and emergency response without compromising safety or plant performance.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of mechanical systems and equipment used in power generation and steam processes. The ability to operate, inspect, and perform minor repairs on turbines, pumps, and control systems, ensuring optimal plant performance.
  • Detail-Oriented: Maintaining accuracy and thoroughness in monitoring process conditions, calibrating instruments, and documenting operational activities. Attention to detail with safety standards and prevents costly errors in a highly automated environment.
  • Microsoft Applications: Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and can learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Drives shift performance, holding their team accountable for plant requirements
  • Primary lead on training new Process Technicians assigned to their shift.
  • Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operates and field checks process equipment.
  • Monitors process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List (e.g. field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.).
  • Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
  • Uses troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline.
  • Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.
  • This job will require working a 12-hour rotating shift.
  • After a short indoctrination period, the successful candidate will go on shift, training in assigned outside areas of the plant.
  • The candidate will then work the various jobs and Operated Plant roles both inside and outside as determined by the empowered work team.
