About The Position

This production role is responsible for setting up, adjusting, cleaning, and operating vertical form and fill and seal packaging machines and related equipment including tooling changeovers, product quality, and output efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent diploma (GED/HSED).
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to the production process including conversion of weight and volume in the metric system.
  • Detail oriented nature and precision is critical to ensure products adhere to designated quality standards.
  • Must be hardworking, punctual, dependable, and work well with others.
  • Work responsibly and follow all safety and security procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a production environment preferred. Food, beverage, or drug manufacturing preferred but not required.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up (assemble & disassemble), change over, operate, monitor, and adjust equipment on vertical form and fill and seal packaging equipment to meet all finished pouch quality specification and production requirements.
  • Disassemble, clean, and sanitize packaging & support equipment using designated cleaning chemicals following documented safety LOTO and cleaning procedures for product changeovers. This can include removing knives, steam cleaning jaws and fill tubes, and flushing the hopper and holding tank using cleaning chemicals. Requires use of protective equipment and works with hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform and document quality checks to include brix, viscosity, temperature, fill weight, production reports, compression test, drain weight, chart recorders, and metal detector. Collect necessary samples for QC and Lab testing as needed.
  • Complete written reports to include: process control chart, pallet tags, production reports, compression tests, drain weight, daily disposition sheet, housekeeping checklists, and labels with code date information.
  • Troubleshoot and/or identify equipment failures or problems. Perform minor troubleshooting, part replacement, and maintenance of packaging and related equipment to include knives, bimbas, film tracking/sensor, machine speed, code daters, pouch length, seals, Teflon tape, fitments, serrated blades, pull rollers, and tube racks.
  • Report any need for equipment repair or maintenance.
  • Adheres to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Food Safety, Safety, and Standardized Work procedures.
