About the position

Join Team Eagan! We're looking for a positive and organized individual to support our staff in providing creative experiences for our community. This position will support the Eagan Art House Pottery Program in its new facility which opens to the public in June! Candidates should bring a desire to work within a team environment and have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members, volunteers, and supervisors. The Eagan Art House is highly collaborative and committed to creative engagement for all ages throughout the community. This position will include daytime, evening, and weekend hours, and hours will vary depending on program needs. A typical week is 15-20 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Load/unload, fire, and maintain four (4) large electric kilns and one (1) small fused glass kiln.
  • Maintain kiln firing schedule for large amounts of clay projects from multiple classes and turn around in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain glazes, slips, and underglazes.
  • Maintain all pottery studio equipment to include wheels, kilns, pug mill, slab roller, and extruder.
  • Coordinate pick up area for finished artwork.
  • Maintain and communicate studio safety protocol.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio space.
  • Maintain reclaimed clay supply.
  • Provide exceptional communication with the Program Specialist, Supervisor, and teachers.
  • Provide regular status report of studio operations.
  • Be flexible to complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Two (2) years of experience operating a ceramics studio.
  • Two (2) years of experience firing electric kilns.
  • Must be able to socially, physically and mentally perform all job duties as described above.
  • Ability or experience repairing pottery studio equipment.
  • Experience with the raku firing process and equipment.
  • Paid work and/or volunteer experience with a school, arts organization, professional pottery studio or related business.
  • Work as a ceramic artist.
  • Ability to work on your own and with a team.
  • Flexible work schedule with evening and weekend availability.
