CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Postgres Database Administrator within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. The Postgres Database Administrator is responsible for the comprehensive management, optimization, and security of PostgreSQL database systems. This role is critical for ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and high availability for organizations relying on PostgreSQL databases. CGI Federal is growing its high-performance team whose members share a passion for building high-quality, scalable, advanced IT solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced, outcome-driven mission.

  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading PostgreSQL database instances and related software.
  • Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions for query optimization, indexing, and overall system efficiency.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in case of failures.
  • Implementing and enforcing security measures, including user access control, data encryption, and vulnerability management, to protect sensitive information.
  • Collaborating with development teams to design and implement database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure efficient data storage and retrieval for applications.
  • Proactively monitoring database health, identifying potential issues, and performing timely troubleshooting and resolution of database-related problems.
  • Implementing and maintaining high availability solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure continuous operation and data resilience.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for database environments, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Utilizing scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine database tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or 7-10 years of experience.
  • TS/SCI with Poly required.
  • Proficiency in SQL and deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internals.
  • Experience with database design, data modeling, and schema optimization.
  • Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and index strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery techniques and tools (e.g., pg_dump, pg_basebackup).
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and implementation.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with development and operations teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
