The Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) is an innovative, integrated, team-taught core curriculum program designed for students in the Honors College, focusing on global and comparative perspectives on primary texts within their historical contexts. The BIC is currently seeking to fill two full-time Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow positions for the academic year 2025-2026, with an anticipated start date in August 2025. These positions are ideal for rising teacher-scholars specializing in Classics and Rhetoric and/or Composition. The selected candidates will be expected to maintain regular and punctual on-campus attendance throughout their appointment, which is crucial for fostering a collaborative learning environment. During their tenure, postdoctoral teaching fellows will engage in a workload that comprises 75% teaching and 25% research. Teaching responsibilities typically involve instructing three courses each semester, with potential course sequences including "The Examined Life," "World of Rhetoric," and "World Cultures." The fellows will also receive mentored teaching and learning training, alongside research and publication workshops aimed at supporting their development as faculty members and preparing them for future positions in higher education. The BIC emphasizes a commitment to Baylor's faith-based mission, and candidates are expected to align with this ethos. The annual compensation for this role is set at $52,500, supplemented by qualified benefits, including funding for conferences and professional development opportunities. Applicants must hold a Doctoral Degree or equivalent in relevant fields by August 21, 2025, and must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. A complete application will include a cover letter detailing the candidate's research interests, teaching philosophy, and alignment with the BIC program and Baylor's mission, along with a curriculum vitae and a list of three professional references. The review of applications will commence on December 2, 2024, and will continue until the positions are filled, with initial interviews conducted via Zoom and finalists invited for in-person interviews.
