About The Position

The Texas Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a Full-Time Postdoctoral Scientist to conduct research on T cell immunity in the context of infection and cancer. This role involves working in a multidisciplinary laboratory that integrates various scientific fields to discover novel compounds for T cell activation, aiming to enhance immunotherapy and combat infectious diseases.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in immunology, microbiology, or biochemistry with expertise in chemical biology.
  • Experience in studying T cell responses and metabolite interventions in bacterial infections and cancers using in vitro and animal studies.
  • Willingness to learn and explore new areas of science, such as chemical biology and structural analyses for bioactive compound identifications.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven to contribute significantly to scientific research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with lab members and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in grant writing and preparation of grant applications.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatic analyses of gene, lipid, and metabolite profiles.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and modify hypotheses based on literature analyses and experimental results.
  • Carefully design and pursue experiments to test hypotheses and troubleshoot assays if they fail.
  • Summarize the rationale, hypotheses, experimental design, results, conclusions, and future studies to present to lab members and colleagues.
  • Write abstracts, prepare posters/talks, and write manuscripts for conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete experimental record.
  • Develop grant writing skills and assist in preparing grant and contract applications as required.
  • Participate in seminars and scientific meetings relevant to the fields of interest.
  • Collaborate with other lab members and colleagues on research projects.
