Postdoctoral Scientist

MBLWoods Hole, MA

About The Position

The Perillo lab at the MBL seeks a highly motivated individual to join us at the Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering as a Postdoctoral Scientist. Epithelial tubes are the building blocks that make all organs. Our lab investigates the basic molecular mechanisms that drive tube elongation during organogenesis, and the cellular identity that keeps organ cells in an epithelial state to prevent tissue fibrosis. The candidate will work on an NIH funded project to investigate: 1) the gene regulatory network that directs tube morphogenesis, and 2) the pathological mechanisms that induce epithelial cells to become mesenchymal through the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). We use the sea star Patiria miniata as a research organism. This interdisciplinary work will involve cell biological, microscopy, scRNAseq analysis, HCR, and CRISPR/Cas9 approaches. For more details on the projects visit www.perillolab.org. Please include a cover letter to explain your reasons to join the lab, your ideas for specific lab projects, your research goals and career trajectory.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology or developmental biology.
  • Please include a cover letter to explain your reasons to join the lab, your ideas for specific lab projects, your research goals and career trajectory.

Nice To Haves

  • Individuals with experience with invertebrate animal models, microscopy and image analysis, scRNAseq analysis and a background in organogenesis and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) are encouraged to apply.
