About The Position

The Postdoctoral Scientist position in In Vivo Oncology at Merck Sharp & Dohme is designed for researchers with expertise in cancer biology. This role is part of the Exploratory Discovery team within the Department of Quantitative Biosciences, focusing on innovative research in oncology drug resistance and tumor microenvironment interactions. The successful candidate will engage in designing and executing preclinical studies, presenting findings at conferences, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, all while collaborating across multiple disciplines.

Requirements

• PhD in cancer biology, molecular biology, or a similar discipline.
• Extensive expertise with oncology models, including in vitro tissue culture and in vivo models.
• Experience with multiplexed immunohistochemistry, molecular biology techniques, and data analysis tools.
• Some experience designing and executing in vivo animal studies, including animal handling and dosing.
• Demonstrated ability to function and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with in vitro tumoroid/organoid culture.
• Experience using spatial transcriptomics.

Responsibilities

• Assess mechanisms of action of antibody drug conjugates using in vivo preclinical mouse models and ex vivo assays.
• Harvest and analyze samples from preclinical studies to identify biomarkers using molecular methods.
• Independently plan and execute studies with the goal of presenting data at external conferences and publishing in high-impact journals.
• Communicate and present data clearly to teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
