About The Position

We seek a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Scholar with strong quantitative, statistical, and neuroimaging expertise to join an active and collaborative research group led by Dr. Tingting Zhang at the University of Pittsburgh. Our team conducts large-scale, multimodal neuroimaging research using data aggregated from large cohorts, including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), the Human Connectome Project Young Adult (HCP-YA), Lifespan HCP Development (HCP-D), Lifespan HCP Aging (HCP-A), UK Biobank, and the Philadelphia Neurodevelopmental Cohort (PNC). The overarching goal of our research is to characterize lifespan brain changes and advance the understanding of healthy aging and Alzheimer's disease through rigorous statistical modeling and integrative data analysis. Dr. Zhang is committed to providing a supportive, intellectually stimulating, and dynamic training environment that facilitates the transition to research independence. The postdoctoral scholar will be encouraged to develop independent research directions, apply for internal and external funding opportunities (e.g., NSF and NIH), and build a competitive academic profile. Outstanding candidates may be considered for long-term academic career pathways at the University of Pittsburgh upon successful completion of training.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong background in statistical modeling, Bayesian statistics, computational methods, large-scale neuroimaging data analysis, and deep learning.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead longitudinal and cross-sectional analyses of large-scale multimodal neuroimaging datasets, including structural MRI, functional MRI, diffusion MRI, and PET.
  • Develop and implement novel statistical, computational, and deep learning methods for multimodal data integration and translational research.
  • Contribute to high-impact publications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of statisticians, neuroscientists, clinicians, and computational scientists at the University of Pittsburgh and beyond.
  • Participate in mentoring graduate students and contributing to a vibrant academic research environment.
