The U.S. Department of Energy’s Institute for Nuclear Theory (INT) and the Department of Physics of the University of Washington invite applications for two or more Postdoctoral Scholar positions starting in Autumn 2026. The INT’s local research interests include QCD, lattice gauge theory, quantum computing, many-body theory and nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, effective field theory, weak interactions, symmetry violations, physics beyond the Standard Model, baryogenesis mechanisms, relativistic heavy ion physics, high energy nuclear physics. The Institute hosts approximately 450 visiting scientists each year, representing all areas of nuclear physics as well as its intersections with neighboring subfields. For further information about the INT see: https://www.int.washington.edu/ Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are full-time, 12-month appointments for a duration of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year, subject to funding and mutual agreement. The Postdoctoral Scholar title is limited to at most five years of postdoctoral experience(s) at both the UW and any prior institutions. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 per year. Postdoctoral Scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply.
