About The Position

The College of Engineering at Penn State is seeking a self-motivated Postdoctoral Scholar. The successful candidate will be expected to lead projects that address interesting and challenging problems in algorithmic genomics. Topics of interest include k-mer data structures, sketching techniques, sequence comparison search, compression, transcriptomic algorithms, genome assembly, variant detection, and the theoretical analysis of bioinformatics algorithm.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field required by the start date.
  • Demonstrated skill set in algorithm design, analysis, and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects in algorithmic genomics.
  • Address challenging problems related to k-mer data structures, sketching techniques, sequence comparison search, compression, transcriptomic algorithms, genome assembly, and variant detection.
  • Conduct theoretical analysis of bioinformatics algorithms.
