About The Position

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available at The Pennsylvania State University in a Plant Cell Wall Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Marcia Buanafina. The successful candidate will study Plant Cell Walls in grasses, focused on plant cell wall feruloylation, and make use of Biochemical and Molecular approaches.

Requirements

• A Ph.D in Plant Molecular Biology (molecular cloning, vector construction, genetic transformation, protein expression and purification, etc.) is required.
• Experience with experimental techniques including microscopy, LC/MS, FTIR/Raman, etc., is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task, to work independently with strong work ethic and self-motivation are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design vectors and perform genetic transformation in different systems
• Assess transcript abundance and plant characterization of plant material (using different techniques e.g., microscopy, LC/MS, etc.)
• Collecting, documenting, and analyzing experimental data
• Establish and maintain experimental material/samples
• Supervise undergraduate students
• Contribute with laboratory general duties
