A Postdoctoral Trainingn position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Siegwart ,Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct advanced research under assigned directives aligned with the scientific mission of the Siegwart Lab . The lab focuses on leveraging materials chemistry to address major challenges in disease therapy and diagnosis, with particular emphasis on developing delivery systems for nucleic acid therapeutics targeting cancer, infections, and genetic diseases. A central component of this position involves contributing to research on lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery of mRNA therapeutics, an approach validated globally through the Pfizer and Moderna SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Building on the success of mRNA LNP technology, the postdoc will support efforts to develop next-generation mRNA LNP vaccines, especially for cancer treatment. The role will include designing and evaluating novel materials to enhance mRNA cancer vaccines and broaden the applications of this transformative platform. Core responsibilities include biochemical engineering of cells and vesicles, molecular biology experiments, recombinant protein expression and purification, chemical compound synthesis, and bioinformatic analysis. The postdoc will be expected to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to data acquisition, computational tasks, and scientific visualization to help advance innovative discoveries within the lab.
