About The Position

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Democracy to contribute to the Kellogg Institute for International Studies as part of its Democracy Initiative. This role involves collaboration with Professor Scott Mainwaring and independent research, focusing on the third wave of democratization in Latin America and globally. The position offers opportunities for co-authoring articles and possibly a book, along with dedicated office space and a research allowance.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Political Science or Sociology by the start of the 2025-26 academic year.
  • Expertise on Latin America and strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
  • Reading proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of the literature on political regimes.
  • Expertise on a wide range of subjects related to democracy.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Professor Scott Mainwaring on research related to democratization.
  • Conduct independent research on democracy and political regimes.
  • Co-author one or two articles and potentially a book with Professor Mainwaring and Fernando Bizzarro.
  • Attend and present at Kellogg Tuesday and Work-In-Progress seminars.
