The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the field of hybrid quantum computing. This exciting project focuses on developing a cutting-edge hybrid quantum computing platform that integrates entangled superconducting qubits with single electron-on-neon (eNe) qubits.

  • Design and fabricate superconducting transmon qubits and electron-on-neon qubits.
  • Characterize quantum devices using a millikelvin dilution refrigerator.
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to conduct quantum computing experiments.
  • Develop reinforcement learning models to improve gate fidelity.
  • Leverage CNM's state-of-the-art facilities, including the nanofabrication cleanroom and the Quantum Matter and Device Lab's dilution refrigerator, for advanced quantum experiments.
  • Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years) in field of experimental physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Experience in qubit control and measurements.
  • Familiarity with superconducting circuits and nanofabrication techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with dilution refrigerator operation and cryogenic measurements.
  • Knowledge of quantum information science principles.
  • Proficiency in microwave and/or optical device characterization.
  • Comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.
