About The Position

The laboratory of Dr. Haobo Li is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow with training in molecular biology and small animal work, preferably in the context of cardiovascular and/or aging research. The lab is located on the main campus of the Mass General Hospital, Department of Anesthesia. Our research focuses on mechanisms that drive aging and cardiovascular disease, using genetic, pharmacological, and physiological (e.g., exercise) interventions. The selected candidate will join an exceptional group of talented and motivated basic and clinical scientists whose work has direct translational relevance and is linked to potential novel therapeutics. In addition, the candidate will be fully integrated into the outstanding biomedical research environment at MGH and Harvard Medical School and will participate in active collaborations with the Broad Institute and MIT. The candidate will be mentored by Dr. Haobo Li, PhD, and fully supported by NIH funding. The specific projects he or she will work on will focus on investigating fundamental mechanisms of biological aging that contribute to frailty and cardiovascular disease. These projects will build on the lab’s recent publications (Wang et al., Circulation, 2025; Shen et al., Circulation Research, 2025; Li et al., Circulation, 2022; Li et al., Circulation Research, 2020), which identified long noncoding RNAs, RNA modifications, and age-related biological pathways involved in cardiac aging, frailty, and heart failure. Scientific investigations will include work with human biospecimens, preclinical animal models, and cell culture systems. Extensive training will be provided in advanced molecular biology techniques, high-throughput epitranscriptomic and proteomic screening, viral vectors, transgenic models, exercise and cardiac physiology (echocardiography, exercise testing, etc.), and small animal heart failure models (pharmacological and surgical interventions).
