About The Position

The Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Texas A&M Agrilife Research involves conducting research activities on insect midgut biology in arthropod systems within a contained laboratory environment. The role includes designing and performing proteomic, transcriptomic, imaging, and physiological experiments to elucidate factors critical for nutrient transport and successful feeding. The associate will be responsible for data collection, maintaining detailed records of results, and utilizing computer programs and databases for analyses. Additionally, the position requires evaluating the nutritional status of various engineered strains of gene-edited or transgenic insects, drafting figures, preparing research manuscripts, and presenting findings at conferences. The associate will also train and supervise research support staff and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Entomology or closely related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and write reports.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Research experience/training in molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in insect gut physiology.
  • Ability to perform various molecular biology and genetic techniques.
  • Ability to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research activities on insect midgut biology in arthropod systems in contained laboratory environment.

  • Train/supervise research support staff.
  • Other duties as required.
