About The Position

The Biology Department at Texas A&M is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate the molecular mechanisms that regulate circadian timekeeping and activity rhythms using Drosophila as a model system. This research will involve biochemical assays, cell imaging, genomics, and computational approaches to define how conformational changes in CLOCK and PERIOD proteins drive rhythmic transcription, as well as how interactions between CLOCK, CIPC, and TRX proteins contribute to transcriptional regulation.

Requirements

  • Appropriate PhD in a related field.
  • PhD in Biology or related discipline.
  • Experience in Drosophila molecular biology and genetics.
  • Experience with biochemical and genomic analysis of gene expression.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.

  • Experience collecting and analyzing circadian behavior.
  • Experience in protein imaging
  • Experience in Drosophila cell culture.
  • Experience in protein production and biochemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research under general supervision, applying knowledge and skills gained through education and experience to complete projects within their field of expertise.
  • Analyzes research data, summarizes findings, and contributes to research papers, articles, and publications.
  • Assists with worksite preparation, cleaning, lab maintenance, and ordering supplies.
  • Prepares presentation materials on research topics for delivery to small and large groups.
  • Participates in preparing required technical progress reports for research sponsors.
  • May assist, mentor, or supervise student researchers and graduate students working on related projects.
