The Biomedical Engineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to solving complex healthcare challenges. The department is characterized by its focus on creating impactful technologies and therapies that improve patient care and advance biomedical innovation globally. The Regenerative Biomaterials and Therapeutics Group (PI: Adam Feinberg) in the Biomedical Engineering Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Research associate to work on independent experimentation and/or directed research to 3D bioprint highly organized cardiac muscle tissue using the FRESH technique. This position requires in-depth knowledge of materials science and advanced manufacturing methods to engineer vascularized tissue constructs. Tasks in this position may include coordinating and carrying out experiments. These experiments involve live human cells, explanted animal tissue, and live animal studies in vivo. You will also interpret the gathered data. It may also include development of research methodology as well as writing reports which contain descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content. Further, the candidate will assist in mentoring junior laboratory trainees. They will produce monthly progress reports and contribute to bi-annual funder reports. Additionally, they will prepare scientific presentations and publications to share findings with the research community.
