Texas A&M AgriLife Research at Temple is seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in areas of crop modeling, remote sensing, geospatial technology, and Big data analytics. The candidate is expected to work closely within a team of Texas A&M AgriLife and USDA scientists at Temple to develop an innovative research program in digital agriculture research, covering research topics including, but not limited to Crop Modeling, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, and Big Data analysis for Precision and Prescriptive Agriculture Intervention aspects.

  • management of field experiments
  • ground-truth data collection
  • operate, test, validate model outputs, and improve prediction accuracy
  • develop Machine Learning and AI algorithms for crop management, yield predictions and decision support systems
  • prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications
  • assist in writing grant proposals
  • other duties as assigned
  • PhD in Agronomy, Geosciences, Environmental sciences, or closely related discipline.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • In addition to the minimum requirements, preference will be given to applicants demonstrating experience in dealing with major crop models, remotely sensed geospatial datasets, and programming languages (either R or Python). The ideal candidate should have excellent academic record, authored/co-authored publications, contributed to significant scientific meetings at seminars and conferences, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
