The Department of Physics and Astronomy at West Virginia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Under the leadership of Professor Lian Li, the Associate will conduct research in the synthesis and atomic-scale characterization of quantum materials. By combining molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth with in-situ low-temperature, high-magnetic-field scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/S) and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), the goal is to uncover how strain, proximity effects, strong correlations, and spin-orbit interactions drive emergent quantum phenomena in topological insulators, Fe-based superconductors, and quantum magnets such as Kagome and altermagnets. Facilities available at Prof. Li's lab for this position include: Unisoku 400mK USM 1300 STM with a 9-2-2 T vector magnet Omicron low-temperature (5-300K) STM with Q-plus non-contact AFM Scienta DA 30 ARPES system Integrated system within situ sample transfer between MBE, STM, and ARPES
