A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education. As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery. The College of Dentistry is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve in the department of Biomedical Sciences. Work Schedule/Location: Located in Dallas, Texas, this is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm. Requirements

• Appropriate Doctoral Degree in Neuroscience.
• No experience required.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, detail-oriented and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

• PhD in neuroscience.
• Experience in neuroscience research.
• Hands-on experience in pain research.
• Strong background and skills in slice recording combined with optogenetic manipulation.
• Record of peer-reviewed research papers.
• Willingness to work with research animals (mice and rats).
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research – Pain Model Preparation: Conduct animal model preparation. Under general supervision, is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise. Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite. Make solutions, clean glassware, autoclave, order supplies.
• Research - Pain Study: Perform optogenetic stimulation and chemogenetic manipulation. Perform behavioral testing. Perform fiber photometry and miniscope recording. May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.
• Non-bench Work: Perform data analysis and manuscript preparation. Maintain laboratory notebook; conduct data mining. Analyzes research data and summarizes results. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Write research reports, presentations and manuscripts to disseminate research findings in national and international meetings and professional journals.
