About The Position

Postdoctoral positions (2) in the areas of peptide chemistry/engineering, protein engineering/design, and biocatalysis are available in the laboratory of Rudi Fasan in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Fasan is seeking candidates who are interested to work at the interface of chemistry and biology within a highly interactive and motivated group of colleagues. We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious scientists with an established background in each of the relevant areas noted below. The candidates are expected to conduct research in one of the following areas: Area A: Research Focus - synthesis and evolution of macrocyclic peptides as selective inhibitors/modulators of cancer-related targets. Projects - involve peptide chemistry, peptide engineering, and molecular display/selection technologies, and activity screening assays. Established Background - Organic/Bioorganic/Peptide Chemistry Area B: Research Focus - design and development of engineered and artificial enzymes for biocatalysis and asymmetric synthesis Projects - involve biocatalysis, protein engineering/directed evolution/design, and mechanistic enzymology. Established Background - Biocatalysis/Protein Engineering/Enzymology Area C: Research Focus - development and investigation of novel biocatalytic methods for asymmetric synthesis and selective functionalization of drug molecules. Projects - will involve organic synthesis, method development, biocatalysis and chemoenzymatic synthesis. Established Background - Organic Chemistry/Synthetic Methodology
