About The Position

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be instrumental in advancing the Research on Outcomes, Opportunities, Treatments and Success (ROOTS) by conducting research, providing critical quantitative and analytical support to research efforts, and securing external funding. The primary content area for this position will be clinical pediatric research. Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience. Location: College Station, TX Schedule: Full-Time; This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Requirements

  • Ph.D., Sc.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Public Health, Psychology, or a closely related quantitative field

  • Ph.D., Sc.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Public Health, Psychology, or a closely related quantitative field completed within three years
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish (Speaking, Reading, and Writing)
  • Demonstrated expertise and a strong publication record utilizing advanced statistical modeling and missing data techniques, specifically multiple imputation.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of pediatric health and clinical research methodologies.
  • Proven track record as a self-starting thinker with the ability to conceive, plan, and drive projects to completion with minimal direct oversight.
  • Prior experience holding or submitting a pre-doctoral or postdoctoral fellowship (such as an NIH F32).
  • Demonstrated record of successful peer-reviewed publications, including first-author papers, in high impact journals.
  • Direct experience with grant writing, particularly K-series applications, or equivalent mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Stata, SAS).
  • Direct experience leading successful Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions at a major academic institution.
  • Experience utilizing data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, R Shiny) to design and implement interactive dashboards for effective reporting of research findings and project metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead the preparation and submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, amendments, and continuing reviews for new and ongoing studies.
  • Design, execute, and manage original research projects aligned with the ROOTS Lab's mission, with a specific focus on pediatric health outcomes.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
  • Prepare presentations for national and international conferences.
  • Assist the ROOTS Director as needed to successfully develop and disseminate high-quality research, and secure funding to support ongoing efforts.
  • Independently perform complex quantitative data analyses, ranging from exploratory to explanatory models.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in specialized statistical techniques, such as multiple imputation (MI) for handling missing data, power analysis and power calculations.
  • Oversee the cleaning, merging, and management of large, complex clinical and administrative datasets.
  • Provide high-level guidance, review, and support to graduate and undergraduate students within the ROOTS Lab on their research designs and quantitative analyses.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training materials related to statistical software, methods, and research best practices
