About The Position

The Quantum Monte Carlo group in the Physics Department at WashU in St. Louis invites applications for one postdoctoral position beginning August 2026. We are interested in candidates with strong expertise in Bayesian methods, uncertainty quantification, and/or machine learning applied to nuclear theory. The group’s research spans a wide range of topics including nuclear interactions, nuclear structure and reactions, electroweak structure, and lepton-nucleus scattering. The candidate will contribute to advancing statistical and computational algorithms to extend the capabilities of the quantum Monte Carlo method applied to nuclear many-body systems. This position will be partially supported by the NUCLEI SciDac-5 Collaboration, providing the candidate with exposure and access to a broad network of scientists in nuclear theory, applied mathematics, and computer science. Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D. Or Equivalent Terminal Or Doctoral Degree

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in nuclear theory or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
  • Strong communication skills, a record of research productivity, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative theoretical and computational research group are desirable.
