The Magee lab studies the mechanisms that regulate childhood blood development and genetic changes that cause leukemia in children. We have several projects related to these general topics. Each focuses on gene regulation – and changes that occur in gene regulation – during stem cell development and differentiation. We use mice to model pediatric malignancies. The overall goal of our work is to develop new treatments for children with leukemia and other blood disorders. An ideal candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in biological sciences or related fields and be seeking their first postdoc. Experience in molecular biology and genomics is preferred. Programming skills are desired but not required. Applicants must have good spoken and written communication skills. Trainees will gain experience in mouse models of human malignancies, hematopoietic stem cell biology, genomics and translational research.
