About The Position

The Kanjee lab is interested in understanding the molecular basis of malaria parasite interactions with host red blood cells that underlie infection and pathogenesis. We apply a wide range of approaches to uncover essential ligand/receptor interactions that include red blood cell genetics, parasite genetics, protein biochemistry and cell biology. We aim to identify key points of intervention in the malaria parasite life cycle for eventual translational applications. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate essential ligand/receptor interactions, with a focus on Plasmodium vivax, an understudied malaria parasite species.
