About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on addiction studies in Dr. Wendy Lynch's laboratory. The Lynch Lab uses behavioral, pharmacological, and molecular techniques to delineate the neurobiological basis of addiction, with particular interest in determining the biological basis of sex differences in vulnerability to addiction and potential treatments for addiction. The incumbent will perform experiments which utilize rat models of addiction and support the goals of the lab under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree, preferably a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or biological sciences by the appointment start date.
  • Extensive (3+ years) research experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for experimental research.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: addiction research, neuromodulation, behavioral research, neuropharmacology, and surgery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Support the goals of the lab under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
