About The Position

This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position. The successful applicant will conduct analytical and experimental research in the areas of Photonics, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetics with an emphasis on Photonics sensors, Optoelectronics devices, and Modeling of coupled electro-hydrodynamics, electromagnetics, and quantum kinetics and help the immediate supervisor in writing project reports and scholarly articles and proposals. Teach classes as assigned. This position is contingent upon funding. The initial appointment will be for three months - one year with a possibility of renewal based on productivity and performance and the availability of funding.

Requirements

  • Five years of research experience in fiber-optic sensor research, including time spent earning a PhD.
  • Five years of research experience in structural health monitoring, embedded systems, and wearable sensor technologies, including time spent earning a PhD.
  • Research experience in AI-driven sensing, modeling, and reconstruction algorithms.
  • Entrepreneurial outreach experience, including participation in and leadership roles within NSF I-Corps programs.
  • Teaching assistant’s experience in Electromagnetics, Probability, and VLSI Designs.
